Supportive. Comfortable. Ergonomic. Durable. Breathable. Hypoallergenic. Natural & Organic. Eco-Friendly. Sustainable.
Our mattress components are free of any harmful substances. We use natural latex foam and high-grade flexible independent coils, in covers made from certified organic stretch cotton and eco-certified natural wool which is beneficial both for your health and for the environment.
Free from harmful chemical offgassing (or outgassing), they are all ecologically certified by Oeko-Tex, a European environmental board which tests for chemical content. We only use natural latex, derived from plantation-grown rubber trees and free of petrochemicals.
All the wood used in our foundations comes from sustainable PEFC and FSC certified sources in Germany and Canada. The laminated wood for some of our frame specifications and our flexible Euro slats comes from from Germany where the material has been tested for harmful substances and suppliers meet the strict E1 regulations for Formaldehyde.
All our natural and organic components are certified by Oeko-Tex Standard 100 eco-certification confirming that they conform to the strictest European standard for harmful substances and chemicals in mattresses. For a validity check of individual components, please visit www.oekotex.com and enter certificate number into the label check box. (Please Note: Oeko-Tex certificates always include a complete product category – to have a separate certificate for each individual component would be unnecessary and cost-prohibitive).

Other Certifications
In addition to Oeko-Tex component certification, European Sleep Design holds various material certifications from other independent testing entities, including:
European Sleep Design mattresses contain no harmful chemicals, no PBDEs, no formaldehyde, no dangerous residues that can be inhaled or absorbed. All of the textile components of our beds have been thoroughly tested and certified clean and safe by Oeko-Tex, an independent testing agency based in Europe, and to their premier Oeko-Tex 100 rating, the gold standard for textile testing that clears fabrics of harmful substances. Our all-natural Talalay latex foam rubber carries a EPEA Cradle to Cradle Certified GOLD certification. Additionally, we do not use petrochemical-based foam products in our mattresses, including polyurethane foam and memory foam.
While we do use certified organic cotton in our mattresses, we are strong proponents of Oeko-Tex certification as it is a much better indicator of the quality and purity of the FINISHED component than any organic certification some producer might hold for the raw material (e.g. dying organic cotton with some artificial dye and still calling the end product organic).
